This morning my eleven year old daughter climbed in bed with me and I told her about an article being written on the economy by a New York City journalist interested in how children were responding to the "dismal" economy. Amelia jumped off the bed, rushed into my office and reappeared with a pen and a pad of paper so I could write down her response, word for word!
Before I share my 'dictation' with you - I should explain that from the time Amelia was five I taught her not to ask me for things she wanted but to imagine whatever she wanted to have (or do) as if it was already real, then stop thinking about it and be happy and grateful. (This was long before "The Secret"!)
Though we are technically in a 'low income' bracket, rent our home and have only one car, Amelia has had everything come to her that she's wanted from swimming with dolphins in Hawaii (three times) to owning horses (we now have three!) to going to Disneyland and Sea World.
After a few years in school, Amelia is now home schooled - with an emphasis on 'Natural Horsemanship' (something she's really passionate about!)

In explaining the economy to Amelia I said, "You know how there are times when we don't have much money, but you and I don't worry about it?"
Amelia nodded enthusiastically and added emphatically, "And my dad freaks out!"
I said, "Exactly. Well, people all around the world are 'freaking out' about not having enough money. And this newspaper reporter is interested in what you think." Amelia said, "Well, I picture what I want and imagine it like it's happening. Then I don't think about it. I do my normal thing, and I'm happy."
I said, "Do you think that would work for other people too?"
"Yes." Then a few moments later she added, "Can I have a do-over?"
"Of course."
Amelia said thoughtfully, "It depends of what they think will work for them."
"So do you have any suggestions for people around the world who are 'freaking out' over not having enough money?"
Amelia thought for a moment. "They should empty their minds, focus on what they want and not worry at all. They can meditate if they want to. Do the normal things they do and just not worry about it and be happy... and picture themselves with money. But not like your whole house is 'full of money' - because then people would just come and try to steal it!"
"Have you ever pictured yourself with money?"
"No, but I have pictured myself going to Disneyland!"
Amelia and I were sitting on my bed, she leaned back against a pillow, put her hand over her eyes, was quiet for a moment, then she continued.

"If you have a child you might want to play with him or her for a bit."
"What is it about children?" I asked.
"Feelings, emotions... some children can feel upset with their parents because they're not there for them.
"Love is
the strongest
thing
in the world.
It makes people feel good,
it makes them feel better
and it always brings happiness,
no matter how sad you are,
knowing that you're loved." |
Amelia then asked me if the reporter would be wanting a phone interview too ... I'll keep you posted! Much love, Heather
P.S. In the morning, before posting this article, Amelia told me she was feeling 'different' from all of her friends, and that it was hard for her to 'fit it.' After receiving your kind letters of support (scroll down to read a few) Amelia feels more like a 'bright and beautiful light' than just being 'different'! Two things on Amelia's current 'list' of things to manifest. Swimming with Itzel - the dolphin I swam with in the Yucatan at X-Caret, every day during the 4th month of my pregnancy with Amelia. (When we swam with wild spinner dolphins - Amelia was 6 - she said, It was nice, but it's not my pod.)
Also, Amelia wants to meet Oprah Winfrey and be on her show so she can share her ideas with children and parents around the world! (The day after her 6th birthday Amelia was spontaneously invited onstage by a presenter in front of 1,000 people to talk about peace. She taught the toning-meditation - the music and singing you hear on our homepage - to the entire audience - she's been intending to take it to the 'next level' ever since!) |
Here are a few of the letters we've enjoyed!
Dearest Heather and Amelia,
Thank-You so much for the inspirational article. Wow, wouldn't it be amazing if all children and adults thought the way Amelia and yourself do? I see Amelia on the Oprah show very soon to spread her message to the world.
Her photos were delightful, what a happy beautiful child with a very big heart.
May I quote Amelia's article in our local paper? I would love to share her message of love and peace.
Please let me know if that would be acceptable.
Love and Light,

[Note: Amelia and I would both be delighted for everyone to share this story with their local paper.]
Heather, thanks so much for posting Amelia's wise words on the economy. I hope the NYC journalist does want a telephone interview or even an in-person interview with an all-expense paid trip to NYC for both of you. [Amelia & I particularly enjoyed this idea!!]
Please tell Amelia that I was thrilled to read her words and I know that she is always going to be a great success and a bright and beautiful light in our world. I've forwarded the link to quite a few friends, too. Bravo, Amelia! And bravo, Heather, for being the kind of mom who is raising such a fabulous daughter. What a winning mother-daughter combo you two are! Peace, Love, Abundance & Blissings,
Becky in Texas
Hi Heather and Amelia,
I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed Amelia’s insights into our current economic situation. You are so right, Amelia! I also loved the photos of you and the horse. My daughter Emi wants to jump horses some day. She is 10 years old and loves animals and wants to help the earth. I have a feeling you would have a lot in common. She sometimes feels different, too. But, we need more people who are thinking for themselves and holding the light of truth for the rest of the world. So many are lost and overwhelmed. For those who can feel the love of life and share it, should do so.
I had a dream about that the other night. I felt very clearly that this is the time when those who can help others, should do it in any way they can right now. It will make a greater difference than we each may realize or understand.
Love and light,
